BELIEVE IN BEAUTY

“I believe in beauty. I also believe that sharing of beauty will make all our lives better. Here is hoping that what I bring makes your life better.” The show will be up through the month of October in conjunction with the ART HARVEST STUDIO TOUR OF YAMHILL COUNTY.¬† http://www.artharveststudiotour.org

Summer Salon

Almost three years have gone by since the gallery opened its doors and I love it, love being involved in a thriving local art scene!¬† So¬†much good has come about.¬† The most rewarding is working and supporting the fabulous artists that also are wonderful people. The gallery¬†is a great space.¬† There is nothing fancy about it, just a welcoming labyrinth of small intimate rooms filled with really good art.¬† It has become the perfect blend of a working studio combined with a fine art gallery and a museum¬†quality gift shop.¬† One¬†finds a place to visit and¬†talk ‚Äėart”.¬† Inspiration is¬†found on…

Contemporary art at its best

It has been said that art is good when it is “unique in conception and well executed”, engaging the viewer. There is something “stunningly right”¬†about the work “that commands your gaze and thoughts whenever you look at it”. “The¬†intensity of the experience of the person making it comes through”. It is “honest, unselfconscious, bold, ambitious, enlightening, original, challenging, and a feast for the senses.” All can be said about Mike Bronco’s paintings. Loving original art!

Art is at its best when it’s the original!¬† Compare it to eating really good food or listening to an amazing concert live!¬† A meal out of a box just can’t meet up to the experience of eating that succulent dinner¬†al fresco in a garden.¬† The car speakers will never match¬†the surround sound of your favorite musician on stage. So it is with original art. Here is my most recent art purchase by a local artist Michael John Bittle; original art that makes me smile. ¬†The vibrant energy starts the day with a fresh happiness and an “all is well…

Beauty lies deep

“Look at those clouds! ¬†Look how deep that color is! ¬†Look at the shadows dancing!¬†Oh my…the¬†light! ¬†Do you see?!” So many words given to my daughter.¬†¬†They were said out of a desire to share with her the incredible surroundings always in front¬†of us.¬† The benefits came in¬†fostering a deeper appreciation of the natural world for both of us. Master photographer Dorthea Lange¬†believed that “the camera is an instrument that teaches people how to see without a camera.” Photography has helped us both to look below the surface of a glance.¬† The world has become richer, a constant play of shadow…

For the love of it

“It is good to love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is well done”. ¬†Vincent van Gogh One thing I have learned since opening the gallery is that the artists here love what they do. ¬†I mean really love it! They all have a passion for creating in their chosen medium and they definitely ‘accomplish much’ and do it very well. ¬†That passion shows not only in the finished works but also in the¬†many impromptu discussions that end up being a master…

Believe in Beauty (or the goose that saves me)

“Beauty will save the world” These powerful words were written in a 1868 novel by Fyodor Dostoevsky by the name of “The Idiot”. I have this pastel drawing of a goose hanging in my room. ¬†Every day, throughout the day this character brings a smile to my face. ¬†According to science a smile stimulates the brain’s reward system and reduces mental and physical stress! ¬†Now you are wondering what a goose has to do with Dostoevsky’s words? To me the goose is beautiful. ¬†According to science the goose is healthy for me by bringing a smile to my face. ¬†That…

THE SEA

It’s a group show coming to the gallery! ¬†Ten of our artists have come together with new work to pay homage to the sea. Dee Boyles, Lori Wallace-Lloyd. Marilyn Affolter, Ruth Orschel, Amy Brodie-Scout,¬†Candice Cameron,¬†Jeanne Drevis,¬†Maida Cummings, Eric Sappington and introducing ¬†Mike Bronco

Beauty surrounds us

We all have choices to make everyday. ¬†Once made, even the little ones shape us into who we are becoming. ¬†There is a lot of power in a decision. I choose beauty. ¬†I choose to to see the beauty that surrounds daily. ¬†Yes there are moments when all efforts fail no matter how hard I try. ¬†These are the times when it comes down to literally “counting my blessings”out loud. ¬†Life does that. ¬†It becomes hard. ¬†That’s when I make the choice to look for and to acknowledge beauty with gratitude. ¬†And with amazement, because what I really am talking…
