FLOWERS!!

“April showers bring May flowers” and they are starting to bloom!  Yes!  I am so hungry for their color and sweet fragrance.  It has been a long wet winter here in the Northwest and while my back yard is still like a sodden sponge of water I have brought flowers to the walls that surround me! Looking into the windows of my studio gallery you will see a perfect Master Copy of Georgia O’Keefe’s “White Flower on Red Earth”, a piece that “desert transplant” artist Mercedes painted this past January while the snow fell outside. The center of attention is the 56″ x 44″ Red Rose by Mercedes truly stunning in it’s size…

30 days 30 Paintings

What does one do when there are endless days of snow, cold and rain as we had this past January?  Outside of work there are lots of books to read, indoor projects to complete, or for me an online marketing course to take, something I am not passionate about but one that came at good time.   Seriously I would rather be painting! But what if one’s passion is about making art? You can paint! You can paint every day and all day. This is just what Anna Lancaster did when winter held sway outside.  She painted every single day for…

Summer Salon

Almost three years have gone by since the gallery opened its doors and I love it, love being involved in a thriving local art scene!  So much good has come about.  The most rewarding is working and supporting the fabulous artists that also are wonderful people. The gallery is a great space.  There is nothing fancy about it, just a welcoming labyrinth of small intimate rooms filled with really good art.  It has become the perfect blend of a working studio combined with a fine art gallery and a museum quality gift shop.  One finds a place to visit and talk ‘art”.  Inspiration is found on…

Contemporary art at its best

It has been said that art is good when it is “unique in conception and well executed”, engaging the viewer. There is something “stunningly right” about the work “that commands your gaze and thoughts whenever you look at it”. “The intensity of the experience of the person making it comes through”. It is “honest, unselfconscious, bold, ambitious, enlightening, original, challenging, and a feast for the senses.” All can be said about Mike Bronco’s paintings.
