When Science Meets Art

Meet Nora Sherwood, certified Scientific Illustrator! This is where Science meets art in an amazingly intricate way that echoes the beauty of the natural world around us. Nora is one of a small group of talented artists worldwide that create to educate and inspire a love for nature to conserve this treasured resource.

This world we all call home is a complex yet fragile ecosystem where there is a shared interdependence of all species.  This video put out by the Yellowstone National Park made a huge impact on me, showing just how much the species rely on each other.  (it’s so powerful I had to watch it again!)  In it we can easily see how all play a vital role in our ecosystem to keep that system healthy.

I echo the words of Theodore Roosevelt…“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.”
Nora’s work is just one small effort toward that goal.

“For in the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. We will understand only what we are taught”.   Baba Dioum

Please join us for a fun night on Friday June 15th as we close off the street for live music and great art!  Meet Nora personally!  4:00 pm – 8:00 pm
