I do hope you have a wonderful winter! The “dog days of summer” are pretty sweet yet there is something special about this season. It is my favorite time of year to take the camera out on the back roads. The weather doesn’t deter, it just adds to the appeal. The moodiness of the low clouds an Oregon winter brings suits me. I like going out into the lonely “Wyeth” landscapes or better yet a thick blanket of fog. Then the world changes. It’s like walking in a dream wide awake! Surrealism comes to life.
And there is nothing better then “naked trees”!
Or a storm on the coast!
Then comes the rare gift of snow. The little we get in the the Northwest is enough to enchant. Ah dear winter world, you make every landscape lovely, bringing a beautiful stillness. Yes you are cold, but oh how you make me know I am alive. Welcome season of contrasts, my cold nose and tingling toes followed by a warm fire and warm tea.
Snow was falling,
so much like stars
filling the dark trees
that one could easily imagine
its reason for being was nothing more
Wishing all of you peace, enchantment, and beauty this winter season.
